February is ... Environmental Advocacy Month
Palm Crosses
You are invited to return your previous years’ palm crosses and place them in the basket that is located on the desk in the Narthex. These crosses will be used to make the ashes for the Ash Wednesday services on February 22nd, 2012.
Ash Wednesday - February 22nd
Please join for the Imposition of Ashes and Holy eucharist. Services will be held at 11:00 am as well as 7:00 pm.
Lenten Study
Join us on Tuesday mornings in Lent, beginning February 28th from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. as we reflect on various Lenten themes and how we are to live lives that imitate our Lord's. The study guide we will be using is from World Vision and invites us to consider what it means to live simply, humbly, generously, compassionately, creatively and fully. There is no charge for this study, but participants will be invited over the course of the six weeks to contribute to their own "live simply jars" with all the money set aside to be donated to the current famine crisis in Africa. A sign-up sheet is on the Welcome Desk.
Ash Wednesday Children & Youth Festival
St. Thomas' will be hosting an Ash Wednesday event for yuoung people aged 4 through high school on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The theme for the day will be prayer. The cost is $5.00 per child / youth, including lunch and a morning snack. The day will conclude with Worship, open to all ages, at 2 p.m. Bishop Nicholls will preside at the celebration of the Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes.
Lenten Reflections - St. Thomas Brooklin
Please join Bishop Douglas Blackwell on Wednesday evenings - February 29th, March 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th - 7-9 p.m. The studies are open to all parishes of the Deanery and, each week, will be preceded by a short service of worship. Refreshemnts will be provided Ample parking! Join us!
Trent Durham Area Day: Come to the Banquet: Taste and See
This year’s area day will once again be held at St. Peter’s, Cobourg, on Saturday March 3rd, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. Cost is $15 which includes lunch provided by the Dutch Oven. Pamphlets are available on the Welcome Desk as well as a sheet for car-pooling. Registration is due by February 17th.
